Arla predicts a solid increase in milk price

31 October 2024 - Wouter Baan

Where FrieslandCampina increased the milk price for November by €2, Arla is doing a considerable amount on top of this. With this, the Scandinavian dairy cooperative is clearly making progress, which is also gaining ground in the milk price comparison tool.

To be precise, Arla is increasing the basic milk price for next month in the Netherlands by €3,11 to €54,03 per 100 kilos. Including the maximum premiums to be achieved, the milk price will increase to €58,05. According to the company, the sharp increase is a result of the rising dairy market, with specific mention of good retail sales. In addition, the tight milk supply is supporting the market. Arla predicts a stable market for the coming months.

While FrieslandCampina actually increased less sharply for November than in previous months, Arla is actually stepping up its game. This will make up for the difference in the Milk price comparator van Boerenbusiness considerably smaller. In the past two months Arla was still in last place, but for November they have better cards in hand for the time being. Over a longer period Arla can be called a stable middle-ranking player in terms of payout price in the Netherlands. It should not be forgotten that the cooperative also uses a generous standard back payment.

Belgium
In Belgium too, Arla's basic milk price has lagged somewhat in recent months compared to other processors. With an increase of €3,16 to €52,75 per 100 kilos, the gap with other dairy companies also seems to be getting smaller in the coming month.
