At FrieslandCampina, 186 jobs will disappear due to various changes in the production apparatus. In addition, the Dutch dairy cooperative is intensifying its collaboration with the German Hochwald in order to process milk more efficiently.
Changes are being implemented at various locations. The production of natural cheese in Born, Limburg, will be stopped by May 2025 at the latest and will then be transferred to Workum, Friesland. This will result in the loss of 99 jobs. Furthermore, all activities that take place in Leeuwarden will be concentrated on the southern part of the location. The northern part will be closed in mid-2026. The site will then probably be sold later. Of the 927 jobs, 87 will be lost.
A consequence of this decision is that the production of sweetened condensed milk will be outsourced to Hochwald in Bolsward as part of a strategic partnership. FrieslandCampina will in turn produce evaporated milk for Hochwald in Leeuwarden. This means that the cooperation between the two cooperatives will be intensified. Member milk has been produced for some time now. exchanged.
Chief supply chain officer David Cutter says FrieslandCampina must continue to operate cost-efficiently, sustainably and future-proof. The measures are part of the €500 million cost-cutting plan that FrieslandCampina previously announced.
FrieslandCampina has informed the unions of the proposed changes.
