Dairy giant Arla has seen its milk price for December increase relatively modestly compared to November. Compared to FrierslandCampina, Arla is also doing relatively quietly this time. According to the Scandinavian company, this is because both the bulk and retail markets are stabilizing.
For that reason, the current milk price in both the Netherlands and Belgium will increase by only €1,05 to €55,88 per 100 kilos. A month earlier, Arla had gone all out, with an increase of more than €3 per 100 kilos.
The dairy company is not negative about the market, but does note that the global dairy supply is stabilizing. In addition, retail is still asking well, but the need for more product is less strong than last month. The foodservice dairy market is also quieter.
Organic milk price
The organic milk price in the Netherlands increased by €0,42 compared to November and amounted to €67,22 per 100 kilos. In the organic Milk price comparator Arla is falling for the first time this year below FrieslandCampina, which is taking over the leading position.
