The Organic Goatmilk Cooperative, with 25 million kilos of milk in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany, will introduce a new milk flow specifically for the American market from 2025. According to a spokesperson, the cooperative can deliver one to two full RMOs per day.
The OGC is responding to the further developing opportunities for goat dairy. The American market is currently the largest and fastest growing market for goat dairy (cheese, curd, baby food). It is also a commercially very interesting market.
Organic goat dairy is at the top of the market, but strict requirements apply. The dairy must meet the requirements of the USDA NOP certification (National Organic Program), the standard for organic production in the United States.
Unique is that NOP milk is produced by completely antibiotic-free goat farms. Goats are raised there from birth without any use of antibiotics. If an animal does need medical care, it can be treated, but the milk from this animal is no longer eligible for the NOP milk flow.
A number of goat farmers within OGC have now successfully completed the twelve-month conversion period.
The OGC currently has 45 members with a total of around 25 million kilos of milk. The cooperative already supplies around ten different producers/brands of baby food and also cheese makers.
