Dairy farmers who remain loyal to Lactalis Leerdammer in the new year will receive extra milk money retroactively for 2024. Remaining suppliers will also receive an extra premium in future years. Furthermore, the sustainability premium will be increased as of 2025, which means that the producer of branded cheeses will receive the highest sustainability premium that is not linked to a special milk flow.
The amount of the valuation premium has been set at €0,50 per 100 kilos of milk over the entire volume delivered in 2024. This is a structural arrangement that will remain in force in future years.
With this, the private processor introduces its own variant of the additional payment, as is customary with cooperative processors. Although it is not stated in so many words, the aim of the premium is to reward permanent dairy farmers extra and thus maintain the milk supply at the factories as much as possible, as the name of the premium also suggests.
Beyond A-ware
For the Boerenbusiness Milk price comparator makes the extra premium a significant difference. Including the promised premium of €0,50 per 100 kilos, the average milk price of Lactalis Leerdammer will increase to €2024 per 48,68 kilos in 100. This means that they will pass A-ware (average €48,32) with the average milk price and will come in just below leader Vreugdenhil Dairy Foods (average €48,72), the two other private processors in the Milk Price Comparison.
Sustainability premium
Furthermore, the sustainability premium will be doubled to €1,20 per 100 kilos in the new year. This means that Lactalis Leerdammer has the highest sustainability premium that is not linked to a special milk flow and is therefore accessible to all suppliers. It is not known whether the conditions for qualifying for this have been tightened.
