A new milk price year, a more extensive range of allowances on top of the milk price. Even FrieslandCampina, which only sets a new set of delivery conditions once every 3 years, is making an extra move and expanding the range of additional options as of early 2025.
FrieslandCampina has decided to reintroduce a quantum surcharge with effect from the new year 2025. For the time being, this is a modest reintroduction, with only one scale. For milk deliveries of 1,5 million kilos per year or more, a surcharge of 50 cents per 100 kilos will be given. Just like at fellow companies, FrieslandCampina is doing everything it can to retain members and milk in a situation in which the dairy farming sector can expect a significant decline.
In the course of 2025, FrieslandCampina will review the entire set of delivery conditions again. This will make it possible to review more conditions from the beginning of 2026.
Scandinavian competitor Arla also has only modest adjustments in store for its dairy farmers. In mid-November, the company announced that it would be introducing a new also ties in with the Better for system from Albert Heijn, among others. This allows members who participate in the concept to also receive an additional €5,00 per 100 kilos of milk. From 1 April 2025, this surcharge will increase to €6,00 per 100 kilos.
Private processor a-ware will also increase the Better For allowance from €1 to €5,00 per 6,00 kilos as of April 100, as is also the case with De Count stream en Farmel. The premium for the Cow Conscious milk flow (for the German market, Haltungsform 3) will increase to €5 per 100 kilos and the quality premium will increase from a maximum of €0,75 to a maximum of €1 per 100 kilos. With all these new adjustments added together, A-ware remains the processor where the most pluses can be achieved, in total up to €7,75 per 100 kilos. The increase in the quality premium has not been included here, because that is part of the basic price.
The North Holland (and Overijssel) cheese maker Cone will double the maximum achievable Caring Dairy allowance from €1,50 to €3,00 per 100 kilos as of the new year. It hopes to make most members happy with this, although there is also a small group that cannot benefit from all the allowances. Those who cannot or do not want to graze will be charged €1,00 extra costs, but that is not a new provision as of 2025. This was established a long time ago.
Cooperative DOC Cheese has a new milk flow as of January 1 of the new year. This is for the production of cheese according to the conditions of Haltungsstufe 3. Members receive a bonus of €3,00 per 100 kilos of milk for this. For the longer existing Tuurlijk milk flow, €5,00 per 100 kilos is paid.
Hochwald Foods in Friesland Bolsward will not come up with new initiatives as of January 1, but is working on a climate surcharge that will be introduced next spring.
Lactalis Leerdammer believed that it could not lag behind with all this surcharge violence and will double the sustainability surcharge from €0,60 cents to €1,20 per 100 kilos as of the new year. On top of that, it will pay loyal suppliers an extra bonus of €0,50 per 100 kilos of milk every year.
Vreugdenhil Dairy Foods Finally, as of the new year, Tomorrow's Dairy will be working, a program developed together with Nestlé, but which can also be extended to other customers. In practice, this can earn up to €4,80 per 100 kilos of milk. The largest part of this amount (€3,50) can be earned through CO2 reduction. The use of Bovear can yield up to €1,00 per 100 kilos of milk, while another €0,50 can be earned through various management measures.
