The Dutch milk supply increased significantly in December last year compared to November 2024, but still lags behind the level of December 2023. The supply over the entire year also does not match that of the previous year, nor the long-term average. This is evident from the recent supply data from the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO).
With a supply of 1.133.710 tonnes in December, the deficit compared to December last year was 0,6%. At that time, 1.140.747 tonnes were delivered to the factories. The supply of milk fat was also 0,65% behind in December compared to December 2023.
Compared to November, however, milk supply did make a big jump, by almost 6,3%. Calculated in terms of content, supply increased even more. Milk fat supply even increased by 7,1% month on month. The increasing payout price at the end of 2024 undoubtedly played a major role in this.

Calculated over the entire year, 2024 was also a slightly less year than 2023, according to RVO. With a total supply of 13.660673 tonnes, 1,7% less milk was supplied than in 2023. Calculated in terms of fat and protein content, however, the damage was more limited. RVO does not yet have all the data for protein, but it does have it for milk fat, and those figures only show a supply decrease of 0,6%.
The trend line for milk supply is also not entirely positive, although not dramatically lower. Last year's December supply was more than 0,6% below the long-term average.
