The Belgian Laiterie des Ardennes (LDA) keeps the milk price for the month of December the same as for November, but pays an additional supplementary payment of €2024 per 1,00 litres for the entire year 100. This is on top of the regular supplementary payment. With this, the cooperative also scores above average for the entire year.
Compared to its competitors on the Belgian dairy market, LDA does not seem to score very impressively with its milk price in December, but calculated over the whole year, the extra €1,00 per 100 litres for all milk makes up for a lot.
The amount is paid out 'because there is room for it', according to a spokesperson for the cooperative from Recogne. The extra payment is also not at the expense of the regular additional payment of €0,90 per 100 litres that is made in the autumn. The condition for this is that members must first have paid up their capital contribution.
On average over the entire year 2024, LDA pays an advance milk price of €46,47 per 100 liters, according to the Belgian Milk Price Comparator of BoerenbusinessThat is a fairly average milk price for the Belgian playing field, although not very high.
The extra annual bonus plus back payment (total €1,90) however clearly lift LDA to an above-average level of €48,37 per 100 litres. This even puts it above FrieslandCampina (€48,11 for suppliers/members excluding back payment). Vreugdenhil Dairy Foods also pays more on average, but has not yet been present on the Belgian market for a full year.
