January was not a repeat of December 2024 in terms of milk supply. Supply was slightly higher than in the last month of the old year, but compared to a year ago, milk supply has fallen again. To end up even lower, we have to go back to 2015. Fat production was also lower.
This is evident from the latest figures from government agency RVO. With a volume of 1.155,767 million kilos, 1,8% less was supplied to the processors. The average fat content was slightly higher, because the fat supply decreased by only 1%. According to RVO, the fat content of the milk in the past month was 4,66%, compared to 4,63% in January 2024.
With the mentioned volume of 1.155,767 million tons, the supply is at the lowest January level in 10 years. The supply in January 2015 was still slightly lower, that in 2016 was already considerably higher.
