Joep Rats will resign from his position as director of the Dutch Dairy Organisation (NZO) on 1 June 2025. This decision was made in consultation with the board. Rats took office two years ago when he came over from Bouwend Nederland.
During his time at NZO, Rats (pictured right) played an important role in the development of the new strategy, the statement reads. "Joep has been very dedicated and has made a professional contribution to the future of NZO. We are grateful for his work, in particular for setting the new course," says chairman Albert de Groot.
Rats looks back on his time at the organization with satisfaction: "I got to know a great sector and worked with colleagues and dairy farming organizations with great pleasure. I am also proud of the steps that have been taken to strengthen the role of dairy in the diet. With the new strategy, NZO has a solid foundation for the future," the outgoing director says.
The board has now started the search for a successor. In the meantime, René van Buitenen will assume the daily management as deputy director.
