Cono Kaasmakers will exceed FrieslandCampina's cash milk price by almost 2024 cents for 15. It is an achievement that did not succeed a year earlier (and not in 2022 either), even though FrieslandCampina did not pay a supplementary payment in 2023 and Cono did.
Both dairy cooperatives improved in 2024. FrierslandCampina became profitable again and announced a supplementary payment of €1,21 per 100 kilos, bringing the cash milk price for 2024 to €52,95 per 100 kilos. That is €4,87 more than was paid a year earlier.
Cono nevertheless set a higher milk price of €53,09 cash per 100 kilos. That is €5,87 more than a year earlier.
The difference with FrieslandCampina is made thanks to a back payment of €1,23 per 100 kilos, plus 25 cents membership fee. This is on top of €51,61 per 100 kilos in advance payments. Of this, €4,35 consists of premiums, 12 cents more than in 2023. The Cono board proposes to add 50 cents per 100 kilos to the company's reserves.
The result must feel like a certain satisfaction for the cooperative after the painful loss of a big puddle of milk in the first months of this year. A small group of dairy farmers with a volume of around 50 million kilos of milk resigned out of dissatisfaction with the basic milk price in particular.
