March Hochwald price lower, Lactalis plus for April

9 April 2025 - Klaas van der Horst

Dairy processor Hochwald Foods has slightly reduced the milk price for the month of March, in line with the movement at most Dutch processors, Lactalis Leerdammer is doing another scoop for the new month of April and reversing the reduction from March.

The upward movement of Lactalis also follows the line that has been set by most other processors. See also the Boerenbusiness Dutch Milk price calculator.

With the latest increase, Lactalis' basic milk price increases by €1,20 to €54,38 per 100 kilos. The maximum milk price goes to €57,58 per 100 kilos (at 1 million kilos per year, excluding VAT and after deduction of ZuivelNL costs). The company remains close to its closest competitors with the basic price and pasture milk price.

Since 1 April, Lactalis Leerdammer has been using a new system for calculating the milk price. This has been presented to suppliers in recent weeks, but it still seems to be subject to some reservations, according to what suppliers say. Lactalis itself does not make any statements about this. It has also not yet been possible to obtain an explanation.

Hochwald still has highest basic milk price in March
Hochwald Foods usually publishes the milk price a little later. This company recently published the milk price for March and it is still on the downward trend. For the Hochwald suppliers this means a decrease of 51 cents per 100 kilos to €54,97 per 100 kilos, a pasture milk price of €56,67 and a maximum milk price of €57,67 per 100 kilos.

With this, the company still pays the highest basic milk price for March. Hochwald also reduced less than average. The average reduction for March was €0,64 per 100 kilos, which brings the (arithmetic) average basic price of eight Dutch processors to €53,50 per 100 kilos.
