Infant nutrition producer Ausnutria has had a good 2024. Although turnover increased marginally, net profit increased by almost 50% compared to 2023. There is a lot of satisfaction with the performance of infant nutrition brand Kabrita in particular.
Ausnutria reports this in the recently published annual report. The company saw sales of infant nutrition under the Kabrita brand increase considerably in various markets. Not only in China but also abroad. Kabrita is infant nutrition based on goat's milk. In this context, Ausnutria calls the full takeover of Amalthea bv in October 2024 an important step, because it now has the entire supply line of raw materials for the production of Kabrita in its own country, the company reports.
With a total turnover of €889 million (at current exchange rate), Ausnutria seems to be operating stable compared to 2023, when a turnover of €887 million was reported. However, net profit increased from €9,7 million to €11,8 million. The gross margin was also significantly higher.
For the sale of end products, Ausnutria is still very dependent on China. This country accounted for €680 million of the turnover last year, or 76,5% of the total turnover. In Europe, €117 million was sold.
Amalthea
With the complete takeover of Amalthea bv (so not of cooperative Amalthea), Ausnutria is also becoming increasingly involved in the production of goat cheese. This is an activity in which Ausnutria has not traditionally been active, but in which it does have an interest, since the whey from goat milk is a very important raw material for infant nutrition. As previously reported, Ausnutria paid €50 million for the remaining 22,5% in Amalthea bv. Another €1,0 million was paid for the remaining interest in DPC, the ultrafiltration installation at Amalthea.
The participation in Amalthea generated a profit of €2023 for Ausnutria in 300.000, while in 2024 the profit decreased slightly to €276.000. Ausntria's participation in Farmel Holding generated a loss of €2,68 million, compared to a loss of €2,27 million in 2023.
