Laiterie des Ardennes (LDA) keeps the milk price stable for the fifth month in a row and thus records the highest March price for Belgium. Milcobel had lowered the price for March and has announced another increase for April. Nevertheless, the new price remains below the March level of LDA.
For this, see also the Belgian Milk Price Comparator van Boerenbusiness.
With the latest pricing, LDA is increasingly positioning itself as the only purely Belgian dairy company that also wants to be the market leader and also indicates that it wants to remain independent, so it does not want to be taken over by a large foreign party. With a milk supply of 1,3 billion litres, LDA is also in fact the largest milk processor in Belgium, good for 30% of the collected milk.
Real Ardennes milk
In order to emphasise its own position and strengthen the image of its products, LDA has launched a new advertising campaign. It features cycling talent Arnaud de Lie. He promotes LDA's 'real Ardennes milk', milk that is healthy and also enjoys European geographical protection (AOP).

National competitor Milcobel, which wants to merge with FrieslandCampina, had to lower the milk price for March, but hopes for better times and is particularly focusing on better performances for mozzarella. The milk price will thus be increased by €1,28 per 100 litres. "With summer just around the corner, Milcobel is looking hopefully at the market, in particular the mozzarella market", it is reported. Milcobel is otherwise waiting for more clarity from the market. There is a lot of unrest in all kinds of areas and that makes it difficult to express a clear expectation.
