DOC Cheese reaches April top with milk price

16 April 2025 - Klaas van der Horst

DOC Kaas further increases the (advance) milk price for April and almost certainly sets the highest price for conventional milk in the Netherlands. This price therefore deviates favourably from the milk price that DMK sets in Germany. This remains somewhat behind competitors such as Ammerland and Hochwald.

For April, DOC Cheese adds €1,07 per 100 kilos of milk, bringing the basic price (at 1 million kilos, excluding VAT and after deduction of the contribution for ZuivelNL) to €55,17 per 100 kilos. The pasture milk price increases to €55,67 and the maximum milk price, including the Tuurlijk! surcharge, increases to €62,17 per 100 kilos.

This is more than the prices that competing processors in the Netherlands have announced so far for April, according to de Boerenbusiness Milk price comparator. Also with intended merger partner Arla there is quite a difference.

Parent company DMK increases the milk price in Germany by €1,00 from a basic price of €50,00 to €51,00 per 100 kilos (at 4,1% fat and 3,5% protein), while the regular milk price including standard surcharges (including Vlog) goes to €54,32 and the price with welfare surcharge goes to €56,32. It is striking that DMK pays a surcharge of €3 for Haltungsstufe 2,00, while DOC Kaas pays €3,00 for the equivalent Koefortabel.
For comparison: Ammerland pays a basic milk price of €53,00 per 100 kilos in Germany for April.
