ZuivelNL may maintain the existing contribution system, but must be more open about the spending of the collected funds, and must use them more precisely. The money may only be used for activities related to the sale of milk.
This is the outcome of a consultation between ZuivelNL and the Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM). ZuivelNL and the ACM report this. In this consultation, it was examined whether the current contribution system of ZuivelNL complies with the Unfair Commercial Practices in the Agricultural and Food Supply Chain Act (Wet OHP Landbouw).
This has led to ZuivelNL promising the ACM to make the spending of the contribution paid to ZuivelNL more transparent. The ACM has recorded the commitments in a decision.
Suppliers association Leerdammer Collectief (LVLC) has filed an objection to the decision, as well as to the ACM decision in which LVLC's complaints were rejected. The ACM has also rejected the latter objection rejectedThe agreements between ZuivelNL and ACM will therefore remain in place and will be implemented, according to both latter parties.
No indexing
A recent attempt by the ZuivelNL board to index (increase) the contribution failed, because there was too much resistance to it in the board of the organization. Incidentally, not from the organizations of the primary sector, including from the dairy industry. Parties are not very vocal about this.
