After FrieslandCampina and A-ware, Lactalis Leerdammer has also increased the milk price for May, although the cheese maker from Schoonrewoerd is implementing a milder increase.
The basic milk price increases by €0,96 to €55,34 per 100 kilos. This is the second increase in a row, after the milk price increased by €1,20 in April. Including the maximum bonuses for quality and sustainability, the payout price can increase to €58,54 per 100 kilos.
In Milk price comparator sees Lactalis Leerdammer FrieslandCampina and A-ware slightly outperform, both of which have increased more this month.
New milk price system
Lactalis Leerdammer presented a new, transparent milk pricing system to suppliers last month, the company recently announced. According to the company, the system complies with the Unfair Commercial Practices Act (OHP) and has also been coordinated with the Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM).
According to those involved, the system roughly boils down to the milk price being based for 80% on the Guaranteed Price of FrieslandCampina and for 20% on the average European milk price, supplemented with corrections for, among other things, the performance of the company itself. Lactalis Leerdammer has not yet provided an official explanation.
The change for May was determined using the new calculation method, the company said when asked.
