FrieslandCampina is making it even easier for new members to join. For existing members, it will be easier to expand their milk supply. FrieslandCampina decided this at the members' council meeting this week.
The adjustment is also intended for the dairy cooperative itself, because it strengthens its growth opportunities. The measure also responds to the changing dynamics in the dairy sector. Dairy companies must all do their best to retain and attract members, especially because the number of people quitting has increased sharply in recent years, both in the Netherlands and in other European countries.
New dairy farmers who become members of FrieslandCampina pay an entrance fee. For new members, this amounts to €5 per 100 kilos of milk. But this does not all have to be paid immediately. Loyal suppliers, who have supplied milk to FrieslandCampina for at least five years, receive a discount and pay €3 per 100 kilos of milk. In addition, the entrance fee will not be charged until 1 July 2026. This period has been extended as of this week. From now on, the time of application will be the starting point, instead of the start date of milk delivery. This means that dairy farmers who are still tied to notice periods with their current customer can still qualify for the exemption. Previously, this only applied to dairy farmers who started supplying their milk before 1 July 2026.
The milk volume scheme has also been made more accessible. Existing members who increase their milk supply by more than 5 percent (previously this was from 10 percent) are now eligible for a payment scheme to purchase the necessary milk certificates. New members can also use this scheme immediately. This means that they can receive an interest-bearing payment scheme for 95% of their required milk certificates. A milk certificate is €8 per 100 kilos of milk.
