Laiterie des Ardennes May milk price on the move

June 13, 2025 - Klaas van der Horst

Laiterie des Ardennes (LDA) increases the milk price for May and gives it a solid boost, to almost the highest level in Belgium. This happens after six months of stability. It also simplifies the entry for new dairy farmers.

In total, the milk price increases by €1,50 to €51,50 per 100 litres at Belgian standard contents. The price at real (actual) Belgian contents increases by €1,54 to €54,21 per 100 litres, and at an annual supply of 1,3 million litres. That is for me the second highest milk price in Belgium, as can be seen in the Belgian Milk Price Comparator van Boerenbusiness.

The graph shows a fixed price for four months, but in fact the milk price has been stable since November. A one-off bonus was paid in December.

The organic milk price of LDA will be increased by 50 cents to €60,00 per 100 litres, at Belgian standard levels.

At the same time as announcing the milk price for May, LDA also announced that it is making it easier to join as a member or supplier.

New dairy farmers can choose. They first receive a three-year supply contract with an option for extension. Instead of €0,90 in additional payment per year, they receive €0,30 per year in extra milk money for the first three years. After the three years, there is a choice: either the farmer leaves, taking with him three times €0,30 per 100 litres in cash, or the farmer becomes a member of the cooperative (free of entrance fee) and receives three times €0,90, or €2,70 per 100 litres in shares.

Previously relaxed FrieslandCampina and Cono in the Netherlands the accession.
