The Olympia dairy factory in Pajottegem, Belgium, is closing. This has become final with the agreement reached between the unions and the dairy producer's board on a social plan. This outcome has been negotiated for several months.
Early May, the intention to close was already announced to the 167 employees of Olympia. Recently, the information and consultation phase with the works council was officially completed and subsequently the board took the decision to close Olympia, as announced by A-ware, the owner of Olympia.
After the aforementioned decision, discussions on the social plan were started immediately to give the employees clarity about the social plan and the shutdown of the factory as soon as possible. According to an announcement, the discussions were very constructive and concluded on June 24.
Production at the factory will be phased out. The first activities will be terminated in early August. This will also mean the first employees will leave the company. All activities will cease no later than 1 April 2026.
