Cono Cheesemakers has decided to lower the (advance) milk price for June. The North Holland-Overijsselse Coöperatie is the first in the current price cycle to take this step.
Four out of eight processors in de Boerenbusiness Dutch Milk price calculator increased their price in June, two kept their price the same, one is not yet known and one is going down.
The cheesemaker reports that the 'Cono price' for June has been set at €57,20 per 100 kilos, while in May that price was still €58,00. The reason given is that consumer confidence is falling and the economic conditions are weakening worldwide, with trade conflicts and disappointing economic figures in the EU and especially Germany. The extremely warm weather is also not helping cheese sales and then there is a decrease in almost all dairy quotations compared to May. "That is why we are cautious," reports Cono director Jerry Griep.
Cono has not announced fat and protein prices, but based on the Cono system, the basic milk price comes to €53,43 per 100 kilos, while the maximum milk price comes to €59,43.
