Milcobel milk price down by more than 4,50 euros

Milcobel has significantly lowered the milk price for October. The Belgian dairy cooperative is cutting over €4,50 per 100 kilos from the payout price, noting that the dairy markets are still operating in a free market.

Specifically, the milk price will drop by €4,62 to €45,52 per 100 kilos, based on an annual supply of 1,3 million kilos. This is the lowest level since August 2024. Including the change in September, the reduction since the summer amounts to €7,70 per 100 kilos. Milcobel is thus responding to the sentiment on the dairy markets, which has plummeted in recent months.

Free fall
Since the summer, the price of mozzarella, a key pillar of milk valorization at Milcobel, has fallen by more than 30%. And the bottom hasn't been reached yet. The dairy cooperative is noticing continued reluctance among buyers in the current declining market. There's talk of a free fall, and that's no lie.
