Hochwald Foods Nederland is lowering its milk price for October, following in the footsteps of other processors. However, Hochwald is once again opting for a modest reduction, making it the company with the highest base price in the Netherlands.
According to the Boerenbusiness A popular milk price comparison tool puts Hochwald's milk price at €52,97 per 100 kilos for an annual supply of 1 million kilos. That's over 70 cents more than its closest competitor, FrieslandCampina. With a maximum milk price of €56,67, it's only about 50 cents below the maximum achievable at the Amersfoort-based cooperative and about €2 below leader A-ware.

With its relatively high milk price, Hochwald Foods seems to be more in line with the German trend, where dairy companies have, until recently, maintained a predominantly positive tone. While the company does have its own pricing policy compared to its parent company, Hochwald Foods in Germany, it is still affiliated with and works closely with it.
Clouds in the sky
CEO Detlev Latka of Hochwald in Germany is also chairman of the Milchindustrieverband, the German NZO. As such, he looked at the situation last month still very satisfied back on the performance of the German dairy sector in the first 9 months of the year.
Meanwhile, more clouds have appeared in the sky in Germany as well, but the price level in Germany remains quite high.
