Figures from the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) show that supplies last month totaled 1.181.894 tons, an increase of no less than 7,7% compared to the same month last year. This means that supply continues to increase month-on-month.

Milk production in October has never been as high as it is now. The previous record level of 2017, when the European milk quota had just been lifted and supply had increased significantly, has also been exceeded. This is despite the fact that supply at the beginning of this year was still 5% below what it was then.

Increase in daily production
The increase is partly due to high milk prices, which have boosted production. The disrupted calving pattern caused by bluetongue is also a significant contributing factor. Compared to September, daily production last month showed a further increase to an average of 38.125 tons.
