The Belgian dairy cooperative LDA is lowering its milk price for October slightly further, but this time more slowly than in September. However, the milk price at the legal Belgian content level has reached a new psychological threshold.
The milk price at the legal content level is €40,00 per 100 liters. This corresponds to a milk price at the normally applied "real" content level of €42,41 per 100 liters. This price applies to an annual supply of 1,3 million liters, excluding VAT and additional surcharges. See the Boerenbusiness Belgian Milk Price Comparator.
Compared to September, the October price fell by €3,08 per 100 liters. This decrease results in a significantly below-average milk price for LDA for that month. This is partly due to the cooperative's heavy reliance on basic dairy products. In recent years, significant investments have been made to reduce its reliance on commodities, including the production of butter specialties. Significant investments have also been made in mozzarella, but this market has also been hit hard in recent months.
