Guaranteed price drops to lowest point in 5 years

FrieslandCampina has further reduced its final milk price of the year, by €2,50 per 100 kilos. Although smaller than in November, it is still a reduction. FrieslandCampina expects that the reference companies—which it uses as a benchmark for milk prices—will also lower their current milk prices. This will result in the lowest price in five years for December.

The reason why the reference companies are expected to lower their milk prices is the same reason FrieslandCampina will ultimately have to lower them: basic dairy prices are still suffering from a downward trend. However, this isn't the only reason. The lower price also includes a negative adjustment because FrieslandCampina has recently overestimated the prices for regular farm milk from competitors. After the reduction, the guaranteed price for regular milk for December will be €43,50 per 100 kilos.

FrieslandCampina's basic price for conventional milk in the Netherlands will be Boerenbusiness Dutch Milk price calculator This amounts to €42,66 per 100 kilos. The maximum milk price, including all allowances, is €47,66 per 100 kilos. This is the price for an annual supply of 1 million kilos, excluding VAT and after deduction for ZuivelNL. This price is therefore at its lowest level in five years. 

Belgium
In Belgium, the same milk price for suppliers amounts to €41,40 per 100 liters, but that's with different Belgian content and an annual supply of 1,3 million liters. Here, the milk price drops by €2,42 per 100 liters.

Small plus for organic
The organic guaranteed price will increase by 21 cents to €68,71 per 100 kilos, including a €3 winter surcharge. For organic milk, FrieslandCampina expects the reference companies to keep their prices roughly in line with developments in the organic dairy market, making a small increase possible.
