Arla chooses December for biggest reduction in 2025

28 November 2025 - Klaas van der Horst

Arla Foods, which has kept its milk price stable for a long time this year and only started lowering it in recent months, has chosen the December price as the date for the biggest reduction this year. And while the organic milk price remains the same across the group, this price is also decreasing in the Netherlands. This is due to a lower premium.

Arla's regular members in the Netherlands will face a price reduction of €4,14 per 100 kilos. As a result, their base price for an annual supply of 1 million kilos will drop to €42,83 per 100 kilos. This means they will receive exactly 17 cents more than their colleagues at FrieslandCampina, as can also be seen in the Boerenbusiness current milk price comparator.

The maximum milk price will then be €48,83 per 100 kilos. This is only available to participants in the Beter Voor program. This puts them €1,17 above FrieslandCampina's maximum milk price.

Annual average
On average, over the entire year, members of the Amersfoort cooperative received the most. They received a basic price (advance) of €51,32 per 100 kilos, while Arla members in the Netherlands received an advance of €49,97. This does not include a supplementary payment, which at Arla consists of a guaranteed amount of approximately €2,00 per 100 kilos. At FrieslandCampina, this has yet to be determined.

Belgium
Arla's Belgian members faced a similar price drop as their Dutch counterparts, but in Belgium, the price is expressed in euros per liter and different standard quantities are used. Specifically, the reduction for Belgium amounts to a reduction of €4,07 per liter, bringing the advance payment for December to €41,52 per 100 liters, while the maximum amount that can be received is €45,78 per 100 liters.

Organic
The organic milk price for December officially remains the same, but after adjusting for seasonal bonuses, Dutch members with organic farms received €1,52 per 100 kilos less than in November. They received €69,58 per 100 kilos. That's €2,05 less than their colleagues at FrieslandCampina.
