This is what a spokesperson for the dairy company said in response to media reports. According to the company, at the end of August a request A request has been submitted to the municipality of Hollands Kroon for permission to process more milk. According to FrieslandCampina, there is no concrete and current expansion plan behind this, but it is supposedly a possibility to process more milk should the need arise. Specifically, the request is for permission to process not 450.000 tons of milk, but 600.000 tons.

BOB cheeses
The Lutjewinkel factory produces North Holland cheeses with a Protected Designation of Origin (PDO), which makes them more profitable. However, specific requirements apply to both the milk used and the cheese's production process.

Renovations are already underway in Lutjewinkel. A new milk reception facility is scheduled for completion by the end of the first quarter of 2026, and a new brine bath is scheduled for completion in the second quarter of 2027.
