Cheese merchant VanderSterre from Bodegraven is acquiring Holland Jersey from Nijkerk. Both companies announced this. A commercial partnership already existed between the two companies for the sale of cheese and milk. Now, the entire company will come under the umbrella of VanderSterre.
General Manager Henk Jan Kos is delighted with the new acquisition. "VanderSterre is taking a new strategic step with this. We're expanding our activities, which will allow us to shape the entire value chain together with farmers."
Holland Jersey was founded in 2015 by Harald Hoffmann and Peter van Dronkelaar, specializing in the production of dairy products from Jersey cows. This milk has a higher protein and fat content, a lower ecological footprint, and is said to be more easily digestible. The company produces milk, cheese, yogurt, butter, and powdered milk, among other products, and exports to more than forty countries worldwide. Fifteen farmers currently supply the company with milk.
Family-owned Vandersterre is one of the largest Dutch cheese traders, specializing in premium cheeses. It owns brands such as Prima Donna and Landana. As such, it is active in the production, aging, packaging, and international distribution of cheese, as well as other dairy products. Holland Jersey will become part of Vandersterre's subsidiary, Vandersterre Ingredients.
