Dutch dairy farm goes public in Bucharest

12 December 2025 - Klaas van der Horst

CEO Peter de Boer tells this in magazine Romania InsiderOther media outlets are also reporting on the ambitious company. DN Agrar owns two large dairy farms, currently totaling 17.000 cows. These farms produced 52 million liters of milk in the first nine months of this year. However, the company aims to grow even faster in the next five years, with a target of 150 million liters by 2030, and possibly even more.

The problem is that milk prices in Romania are among the lowest in the entire EU, not just now, but also over the long term. Therefore, the plan is not only to expand milk production, but also to process more milk in-house.

Initially, a de-creaming plant and a plant for thickening skimmed milk will be installed in this context, with further processing options possible later.

DN Agrar Group reportedly has a market capitalization of the equivalent of €88 million and an annual turnover of approximately €33 million. Net profit is expected to be around €10,7 million. Two-thirds of the shares are held by AM Advies, based in Koekange.

The manure from the dairy farms feeds a biogas plant and wheatgrass is grown for cattle feed in a vertical cultivation facility.
