Dutch milk supply reached another record high in November. Due to the disrupted production pattern caused by bluetongue, daily supply also showed a further increase in the month when supply is typically at its lowest.
Dutch supplies last month totaled 1.144.713 tons. This represents a substantial 7,1% increase compared to the same period last year. At 4,59%, the fat content was slightly lower than a year ago. Fat production in November reached 52.597 tons, representing a 6,7% increase. November production has never been as high as it is now. oktober a record was also set.
Increase in daily production
Normally, milk production declines in the fall, but that didn't happen this year. Daily production last month reached 38.157 tons, compared to 38.131 tons in October. The further increase can be attributed to bluetongue, which has disrupted the calving pattern on many farms. Furthermore, dairy farmers have increased production this year due to attractive milk prices combined with relatively low feed costs.
Over the first eleven months, milk supply is now almost 1,5% ahead of last year. At the beginning of this year, the gap was still 5%.
