Milcobel is lowering the advance milk price for December by over €2 per 100 liters. This is the last milk price in the cooperative's history. The cooperative cites the large milk supply and the sharp drop in global dairy prices as the reasons for the reduction. The market is nearing a more than ten-year low.
Due to the reduction, the milk price with real Belgian contents and an annual supply of 1,3 million liters comes to a price of €37,31 per 100 liters, as is also evident from the Boerenbusiness Belgian Milk Price ComparatorThis milk price is the last own milk price in Milcobel's existence.
Earlier this week, the cooperative agreed to a merger with FrieslandCampina. Starting in the new year, Milcobel members will be part of FrieslandCampina and will be paid by the cooperative. They can then choose how they want to participate: as a member gradually phasing into the FrieslandCampina system, or as an immediate member who meets all the requirements, including the Foqus planet requirements. The latter means higher milk revenues, but also meeting many more requirements. The former option allows up to two years of phasing in.
For the entire year 2025, Milcobel's advance milk price is just under €50 per 100 liters of milk; €49,46 to be precise. That's €1,86 less than FrieslandCampina's Belgian base price, excluding additional payments, and €2,80 less than the base price paid by leader A-ware.
Milcobel has not yet commented on whether or not there will be a supplementary payment in 2025.
