Supplier cooperative Eko-Holland is lowering the price for organic and biodynamic milk by €1,00 per 100 kilos for January. This move is in line with that of other Dutch processors, but Eko-Holland is optimistic about the market.
With the reduction, Eko-Holland's regular organic milk price will be €69,05 per 100 kilos, excluding VAT, based on an annual supply of 1 million kilos. This puts Eko-Holland slightly behind FrieslandCampina, which also lowered its price, and certainly behind Arla, which actually increased its organic milk price slightly for January. The price of Eko-Holland's biodynamic milk increases from €75,05 to €74,05 per 100 kilos.
Eko-Holland Chairman René Cruijsen remains positive about the organic dairy market, despite the small reduction this month. This reduction is related to the somewhat more difficult market conditions around the turn of the year. Structurally, however, the organic market looks good, Cruijsen believes. Germany still has a significant shortage of organic milk.
