Gijs continues to grow rapidly with a quarter of additional compound feed sales

15 January 2026 - Wouter Baan

Gelre IJsselstreek (Gijs) saw its compound feed sales grow to 135.000 tons by 2025. This represents a 27% increase in a market that is generally under pressure in terms of volume.

Gijs is the first compound feed company in the Netherlands to share sales figures for 2025 as a whole. Fefac, the European federation of compound feed suppliers, released an estimate at the end of last year that compound feed production for cattle will shrink by 5% in 2025. Despite this, the company is accelerating.

In 2023 Gijs grew Already by 14%, and by 2024, that figure would increase by 15%, surpassing the 100.000-ton feed threshold. This growth allows Gijs to hire additional staff.

The company operates in the Netherlands and also on the Belgian market. Gijs primarily rents (excess) capacity from third parties. At its home base in Azewijn, Gelderland, there's a factory for approximately 10.000 tons of compound feed.
