FrieslandCampina Wamco, approximately 68% owned by the Dutch dairy cooperative of the same name, achieved successful operations in Nigeria in 2025, after posting a loss the previous year. The profits are being fully reinvested in the Nigerian company to strengthen the balance sheet.
Revenue improved by almost a quarter to 615 billion Nigerian naira. Converted to euros on a daily basis, this is €382 million, due to higher sales volumes and implemented price increases.
This results in a net profit of €11,6 million. A year earlier, the loss was over €600.000. The improved result is due not only to higher sales figures but also to cost savings. The profit will be added in full to the company's equity. This increases the company's solvency to over 15%, but it is still weak. This means that FrieslandCampina's member dairy farmers will not directly benefit from the improved results in Nigeria in 2025.
FrieslandCampina's 2025 annual figures will be released next Wednesday. A profit of €230 million was posted in the first half of the year, following a near-perfect start to 2025. The global dairy market suffered a significant setback in the second half due to rapid price drops. However, FrieslandCampina has already promised a supplementary payment to its members.
