After months of price pressure, LDA is the first dairy processor in the Netherlands and Belgium to raise the milk price again. Recovery in the dairy market and better returns from dairy trading are providing support. Read more about the milk price from Laiterie des Ardennes.
The February milk price is rising according to the Boerenbusiness Belgian milk price calculator by €0,62 to a base of €34,71 per 100 liters, at actual Belgian levels.
LDA's milk price had dropped significantly in recent months due to sharply falling prices for dairy commodities. As a result, the milk price could no longer keep up with many competitors.
A strong recovery in the dairy market has since brought about a turnaround. The good prices achieved by LDA at the GDT auctions, among others, are also contributing to this.
The enterprise also indicated recently that additional value-based revenues are expected in the coming months. This is linked to an expected start of sales of high-quality whey ingredients. These revenues are expected to give the milk price an extra boost.
