Many milk prices rose in April, but the average Dutch milk price for March still fell slightly, according to the DCA Farm Gate Milk Index. Read more about the development of milk prices.
The decline was minimal. The index dropped from €38,02 per 100 kilos in February to €38,01 per 100 kilos in March. This was mainly due to a price reduction at Lactalis. Virtually all other processors kept their payout prices stable, while Arla reported a small increase due to an exchange rate effect.
The highest base milk price was paid by Cono (€40,14) in March, while Hochwald Foods in Bolsward came in second place with a base price of €38,58 per 100 kilos.
The index for April is going to rise again, that much is clear, but an exact figure cannot yet be attached to it. Many processors have raised their milk prices, but not all of them.
Arla kept the milk price the same, while FrieslandCampina and A-ware implemented significant increases.
