Following many other processors, DOC Kaas has also raised the milk price. With this, the cheese producer from Hoogeveen crosses the €40 mark with the base payout price and further extends its lead over prospective merger partner Arla. Read more about the milk price development at DOC Kaas here.
To be precise, the milk price rises this month by €2,18 to €40,59 per 100 kilos. In the Milk price comparator Boerenbusiness This places DOC Kaas in second place, just behind FrieslandCampina.
However, Cono and Hochwald still have to announce their payout prices. These processors held first and second place in March. DOC Kaas followed in third place at the time, ahead of FrieslandCampina. Both Cono and Hochwald must raise their prices to remain in the leading group.
The maximum achievable milk price for DOC Kaas, linked to the Tuurlijk milk stream, stands at €47,59 per 100 kilos this month. This places DOC Kaas provisionally in the lead in the Maximum Milk Price Comparison Tool, just ahead of A-ware, which raised its price significantly earlier this month.
Milk price catches up
It can be concluded that DOC Kaas has worked its way up in the Milk Price Comparison Tool over the past few months. At the end of 2025, the company was still at the bottom. This rise is linked to the sharp increase in whey powder prices. DMK is a major European player in the field of whey products and ingredients and is benefiting from the higher prices.
Earlier this week, parent company DMK announced its annual figures for 2025. While revenue rose to €5,3 billion, the net result remained stable at €24,2 million. The German cooperative is awaiting the merger with Arla. The investigation by the competition authorities is expected to be completed in the first half of 2026.
Furthermore ahead of Arla
Merger partner Arla kept the milk price stable for March. In April, DOC Kaas is nearly €4 above Arla's. Although the merger with Arla is supposed to offer members of DOC and DMK structural prospects of a better milk price, this is currently not the case.
