The early grain harvest seems to offer opportunities for pig farmers. Cautiously, there are already some signs that traders want to secure manure from pig farmers.
The first winter barley was already harvested last week. It looks like the grain harvest is also early this year. Agrifirm expects the grain harvest this year to be 6 to 8 weeks earlier than last year. An early grain harvest can increase the demand for fertilizer. Fattening pig slurry is then the most interesting. There is sufficient stock of this.
More demand for pig manure
There are already some signs that traders want to store manure from pig farmers. Price-wise, there seems to be some room, which means we are entering an interesting period for manure. It is expected that collection contributions have increased for the time being.
Sales are continuing reasonably well
Intermediaries indicate that sales of manure are continuing reasonably well for the time being. Agreements have been and are being made with arable farmers left and right. Silos are filled on this basis. An early grain harvest can ensure above-average sales of manure.
If the demand for cattle slurry cannot be met now, it may be an option to reserve cattle slurry now that can be used next spring.
