The spreading season is now almost 2 months old, but due to the cold weather, only limited manure has been spread. What does this have to do with the prices that arable farmers receive?
The period in which manure can be spread is becoming increasingly smaller. This is because the weather remains persistently cold and the ground is mainly wet. Arable farmers do not wait before sowing, which means that the period for spreading manure is becoming shorter. In addition, the weather forecast is that it will be cold again around Easter.
Highest prices in Flevoland
The highest prices come from Flevoland. There, €8 to €10 per cubic meter is paid for pig slurry, which is spread on the land. For headland delivery the price is €10 to €12. The rate for cattle slurry is slightly lower; For example, €2,50 to €4 per cubic meter is paid for injected manure, but the price for delivery to the headland is €5 to €7 per cubic meter.
In Groningen and Drenthe, arable farmers receive approximately €2 to €6 per cubic meter when they spread pig slurry on their land. Groningen arable farmers can be happy if they receive €1 per cubic meter for injected cattle slurry. They receive €0 to €5 per cubic meter for headland delivery.
Arable farmers in the northern provinces receive less on average. This is because the manure has to be transported over a greater distance. The Gelderland farmers receive a relatively good amount for having pig slurry spread (€8 per cubic meter). They receive €2,50 per cubic meter for spreading cattle manure.
Noord-Holland
Arable farmers in North Holland receive the least for pig slurry when they have it spread (€3 per cubic meter). They receive nothing for cattle slurry. Delivery of pig slurry on the headland is well paid (€10 per cubic meter).
For the delivery of pig slurry and cattle slurry on the headland, an arable farmer in the Veluwe, Southwest Brabant and Limburg receives between €8 and €12 per cubic meter. In Zeeland, the amount paid out is €10 less for pig slurry and €4 for cattle slurry (headland delivery).
