More manure is being spread again, which is mainly caused by the prospect of rain and the early end of the grain harvest. The extension of the exit season has also been well received. Although the fertilizer quotes of DCA-Markets remain fairly stable, the tension in the market has eased somewhat.
Experiences on the Dutch manure market are very variable. However, the market in general seems to have relaxed a bit now stir is coming. Arable farmers, especially on clay, are open to spreading both solid and liquid manure (then green manures can be sown), but then the rain must fall in sufficient quantities.
Satisfied with extension
The initial response to the extension of the spreading season was positive, although calendar-driven agriculture is far removed from practice. But hey, at least it's something. If the drought is not sufficiently alleviated, a further request for an extension will have to be submitted, insiders report.
Compared to last week, more manure is being spread this week, which contributes to the relaxation in the market. There seems to be more manure space available among arable farmers at first was thought. The current demand for fertilizer from the arable farming sector is largely financially driven, which is caused by the high cultivation costs (due to the many irrigators).
Turnaround in the market
The rapid progress of the straw and grain harvest gives contractors more scope to spread manure. If the weather forecasts come true, it can be expected that a lot of manure will be spread next week. This would mean that the fertilizer market could have a completely different appearance in mid-September.
De fertilizer quotations from DCA-Markets all remain fairly stable. The price of pig manure remains spread from €23,50 per tonne (Markelo) to €28 per tonne (Deurne). Cattle manure becomes €0,50 cheaper at the top and drops to €20 per tonne (Tilburg). The price in Deurne also drops by €0,50, bringing it to €18,50 per tonne. Markelo has the lowest quotation at €15,50.The spread for pig manure remains virtually the same this week.
