The Dutch manure market is shrouded in calm mist. A normal phenomenon for this time of year. What does that mean for the pricing of the collection contributions this week?
The first month of the winter period is never a busy period when it comes to the transport of manure. Manure providers keep the supply limited so as not to be immediately confronted with higher surcharges in the form of winter surcharges. The recipients of manure (arable farmers) are in no hurry, as it will take months before manure can be spread again.
Arable farmers are busy in the fields bringing in the harvest or doing other work. As a result, there is currently no time to discuss the fertilizer plans for the 2019 harvest, as can be seen from the explanation of the fertilizer quotation from DCA-Markets this week.
The explanation also makes it clear that the collection contributions are increasing because there is trickery with amounts that are paid to the recipient. In this way, an attempt is still made to get a foot in the door of the arable farmer and to keep cars and staff working. This is particularly evident this week in the collection contributions for cattle slurry.
Intermediaries indicate that sales of chicken manure are starting to slow down again. After a relatively long period of stability, collection contributions are increasing due to more difficult sales to Germany. Alternative sales are not available in the form of other export markets or incineration.
Moreover, when manure is offered for incineration, it must be suitable for this purpose. Poultry farmers who are currently in a pinch therefore have to 'buy' sales, which means an increase in collection contributions, especially in the regions along the German border.

There is also limited trading on the fertilizer market this week. The pace of manure transport is very normal, which is normal for this time of year. The largest consumers of manure, arable farming, are busy harvesting the harvest and/or laying the foundation for the coming harvest. As a result, there is now little time to sit around the table and discuss the fertilizer plans for the 2019 harvest. Intermediaries who have no other work try to arouse the interest of the arable farmer by stunting with amounts to be paid. |
