OCI sells 28 percent more fertilizer

20 March 2019 - Anne Jan Doorn

The turnover of the chemical company and fertilizer producer OCI rose by 2018% in 44. This result is partly due to the good sales of nitrogen fertilizers and the increased prices thereof on the world market.

In 2018, OCI sold 7,5 million tons of fertilizer from its own production, which is 28% more than in 2017. The OCI Nitrogen factory in Geleen (Limburg) contributed more than 2,6 million tons to the total production. However, the company does not only produce fertilizers, but also substances such as methanol and AdBlue. Sales of all products combined showed a volume increase of 29%.

De good results also have to do with increased prices on the world market; for example, the nitrogen price rose by 15%. The better sales and higher prices result in a profit of more than $17 million. In 2017, the company set another dungeon of $27 million.

The stock market value of the fertilizer producer rose sharply at the beginning of March. The Saudi chemical giant Sabic is said to be preparing a bid for the 'methanol branch' of the originally Egyptian OCI.
