Van Wenum resigns from Manure Control Foundation

June 14, 2019 - Anne Jan Doorn - 13 comments

Jaap van Wenum, the chairman of Agriculture at LTO Nederland, will announce on Friday 14 June that he will resign as director of the Manure Control Foundation. Van Wenum has not taken note of the press release that was sent this week and does not agree with the content.

The press release explained the concept of the KeurMest certificate and also stated that stakeholders can respond. However, Van Wenum was not informed of the publication. He also does not agree with the proposals contained in this draft. "As an arable farming sector, we are not going to take over any government tasks."

According to Van Wenum, this certification is beyond the legal requirements and means a lot of red tape for arable farmers. "This proposal states that a budget must be made for the user space. This can also be easily obtained from the data on the website of the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO.nl)."

Red tape
He also mentions that the concept states that the fertilization plan for the entire company must be inspected. "That is an enormous administrative task and it is of no use to you. The weather can change and then your entire fertilization plan is turned upside down. Nature cannot be captured in such models."

Although he is not in favor of the extra tasks for arable farmers, he is in favor of a tougher approach against manure fraud. "We are quite prepared to only purchase manure from certified companies, and independent sampling also works well. However, large parts of the arable farming sector do not participate in the fraud, although we do suffer from it," concludes Van Wenum.

hey, hey, finally a strong signal from the LTO.
Enough is enough.
We arable farmers are not going to solve the dairy farmers' problems.

Straight is straight and crooked is crooked a strong signal issued by Jaap. Isn't it strange that a press release is first issued before the members of the organization have taken note of it? Does that say something about that organization? Do we want to be represented by such an organization, conniving people?
There is nothing wrong with fighting for a cause, but with an open mind.

Well done Jaap, manure sales control is again really an administrative monstrosity where only the input is followed and the rest in a parallel universe follows and continues to follow its own path.

It is clear that Japie was also only there for the money and for bacon and beans. LTO bag filler by the book.

Classy Jaap, at least someone within LTO who stands up for the arable farmers.

If you are on about 12 committees and do not know what is discussed there, then it is only about the money. Jaap was shocked when farmers started to grumble and he didn't know anything about it yet. Quickly called an LTO office clerk what to do.

As far as I'm concerned, this campaign will have an appropriate follow-up when it comes to crop protection! If it is up to our minister, we will soon be running out of resources. Who will bear the risks for an apple and an egg in the future? No one stands still...

As a farmer and anti-LTO member, I think that Jaap van Wenum is a smart guy, much better than his predecessor and namesake.
Bastian June 15, 2019
Jaap deserves the support of the entire agricultural sector of the Netherlands.
Let's all make a fist through Jaap van Wenum

Finally someone who rejects this new cost item, Certification is a sham insurance that does not pay out if things go wrong, it offers at most some work for inspectors, who enjoy a decent income at the expense of the farmer. went wrong, where the farmer pays for the laughter.

no dirk, by certifying you take on the risks.
You don't do that for someone else, but only for yourself.
