The spreading season for manure started last weekend, but there is no question of a smooth start. The wet weather makes it difficult to spread manure in many places. Manure prices show a mixed picture.
Although the wet weather conditions hinder the spreading of manure, on balance there is no excessive supply pressure. Both cattle and pig manure prices are below last year's levels in many areas. It should be noted that prices were relatively high at the time. This is largely due to the fact that the number of pigs has decreased somewhat in recent months, partly due to the stopper scheme that expired in 2020.
In the south region, the average price of pig manure this week is €23,67 per tonne, according to the DCA quotations. The price around Deurne is €24,50. The quote for Tilburg is €23 and is therefore at the bottom in the south. In the central region, the average price for pig manure remains the same this week at €21,83 per tonne. The highest price is €22,50 in Lichtenvoorde. In Barneveld and Markelo the price remains the same at €21,50 per tonne.
Cattle Slurry
The average price of cattle slurry in the south region has fallen this week by €0,33 to €17,67 per tonne. The highest price here in Tilburg is €18. In Deurne and Uden the prices are €17,50. As with pig manure, the price drop for cattle manure also stagnates in the middle, at an average of €17,33 per tonne. In Barneveld and Lichtenvoorde the collection contributions are €17,50. In Markelo it is €17.
Determine weather conditions
There is proportionately more supply of cattle manure than pig manure. However, this does not have to be a problem when drier weather arrives. The weather forecasts However, it appears that the rain will continue for the time being, which makes it difficult to spread manure in many places.
In places where fertilization is carried out, this is often done with the drag hose. Whether prices maintain the seasonal downward trend in the coming weeks will probably depend greatly on weather conditions.
