Who is the Mol in politics The Hague?

9 March 2017 - Alfred Jansen - 1 reaction

In this election time we hear the positions of the various parties and then you wonder what will eventually become of this. Think, for example, of Rutte's 1000 euros, or left-wing parties that say that the farmer should be able to earn a fair living and then shout that the allowances from Brussels must be removed as soon as possible and that the cows are obliged to graze.

Let's take State Secretary Van Dam by the horns. Martijn is a special case. With him I have the feeling that I am watching an episode of 'Wie is de Mol'. All this time I had the feeling that he was playing a game. It has been clear from the start that everything that will cost the sector money will be imported immediately. And everything that can help the sector, he forgets or it just won't work. During the election campaign, he recently indicated that the number of animals in the Netherlands should be significantly reduced. Then the real Van Dam came out. My feeling was right; he's the mole!

But the damage has already been done. Partly because of his showy fumbling, a good number of cows are now being brought to slaughter. If you live in the foot and mouth triangle, it still feels like a deja vue: Mr Brinkhorst was the mole at the time. A lot of suffering and both cry out loudest for the sector to bring it upon itself. The jack is knocked out and the mole gets the pot. In the case of Van Dam and Brinkhorst a nice job.

A good neighbor is better than a distant friend

Then it is not surprising that your faith in politicians is being tested. The question is gradually which politician is a mole, and which politician is really fighting for the cause. Who keeps his promises? I can't tell you exactly.

Until I heard about the 'choose your region' campaign. The Overijssel CDA politicians Hilde Palland, Pieter Omtzigt, Eugene van Mierlo and the well-known dairy farmer Maurits von Martels have started this. Meanwhile, other Overijssel politicians have also embraced this campaign. The idea is that politicians from the region know the people from the region, know what is going on and return to their region every week. The bond remains. In short, a good neighbor is better than a distant friend.

Another approach is to choose someone who knows the sector inside out. Look, for example, at the initiative of the NVV 'electoral party for the farmers', where the agricultural candidates are specially put forward. If you vote for someone from your own region and from your own sector, you have 'We know us'. And of course that feels familiar.

The mole in politics. 20-03-2013 Sharon Dijksma sent a note to the room where she set out her plans regarding developments in the sector and I have had email contact about this several times. They were good at meaningless lyrics, but it's a shame it didn't stop there. When I look back at the recommendations to the room and what policy has now been implemented, it doesn't seem like it. So politically, nice words certainly from the left, but secretly they kill you with a smile. How is it possible that our stand organization allows itself to be manipulated like this? Or is the fluff so sleep-inducing?

Good column! Indeed, today it is a hodgepodge of opinions and points of view that each side is spouting. Today you feel a little more valued before the elections, but in practice this disappears quite quickly after the elections. Who will become our new foreman, will it become someone who could not get another position in The Hague and reluctantly accepts this to have something as well, or will we hopefully get another Minister of Agriculture with a heart for the sector. The latter seems like a hopeless dream. What can you do if it all gets a bit complicated for you as an entrepreneur and farmer? Then go back to basics, look at the electoral list. look for someone with good intentions for the sector and preferably from your own region. Short lines and please let everyone vote!!! No voice is no right to speak or complain.
