The Netherlands is completely locked. Who explains to me why?

24 November 2020 - Boerenbusiness - 12 comments

Nature and environmental organizations and left-wing politics are convinced that the livestock should be halved. I also received answers to the various pieces that I wrote about agriculture and that were addressed to politics and nature and environmental organizations. It was always the same.

In fact: the tropical forests are being cut down for animal feed. So our livestock industry is the cause of the felling of tropical rainforests. Time and again I have explained to them what the soy is used for. For human consumption as a meat substitute and for making biofuel. Only 20% of the soy can be used for this and the rest of the soy (soy meal) is waste. This waste is used to make animal feed. The proof is on the Nevedic's website.

Some examples: I had a discussion with a Member of Parliament from the Party for the Animals. When I explained this to him, I got the answer: "we can't agree, I'm leaving". He turns and disappears. Another answered: "I don't believe". Greenpeace promised to answer me within 5 working days. After several emails, this answer was still not there and I stopped asking questions. The answer doesn't come.

Hobbyhorse left-wing politics
Another hobbyhorse of left-wing politics and media is: nitrogen emissions come from agriculture. The nitrogen from agriculture (ammonia, NH3) and the nitrogen released during the combustion of fossil fuels (nitrogen oxide, NOx) are lumped together. In the newspapers, it is frequently quoted that the NH3 from agriculture causes serious damage to nature reserves.

It has been proven that the NH3 from agriculture precipitates within 400 meters of the barn. To my surprise, the emissions from agriculture (which is natural NH3 and belongs in the short cycle) emitted in Brabant also count in Overijssel, for example. The NOx emissions of a road count for a maximum of 5 kilometers.

Of the NOx from air traffic, only take-offs and landings count. Furthermore, the aircraft is in the air and does not count towards the emissions. If you emit NOx through a high chimney, it hardly counts anymore. Strange calculations and that while NOx emissions do not belong in the short cycle.

Natura2000 areas doubled
Research by the STAF also shows that the nature authorities have simply designated almost 90.000 hectares of land as nitrogen-poor nature reserves. For example, the Natura2000 areas have almost doubled. Without any consultation, just written on the card at Aerius. Farms that are not located in a nature reserve are suddenly located in a nature reserve and the farmer's land has suddenly become nitrogen-poor nature, while it is just grassland.

Then it is not discussed, but the farmer has to fuck off. He can even be expropriated and not allowed to reinvest his money in another farm. He has to settle the income from his farm with the tax authorities, so he has to pay back and he is left behind with a large debt with the bank. And this while the EU still has to import 20% of our food and 10% of our meat from other parts of the world, because we produce too little in Europe.

If agriculture disappears from Europe, we humans will still have to eat. Every hectare of agricultural land removed from the Netherlands is cutting 10 hectares of tropical forest in the tropics. What then is the environmental gain, which is intended by the left-wing parties? The world is bigger than the Netherlands, isn't it? This smear campaign by left-wing politics, media and nature and environmental organizations against agriculture is incomprehensible.

Dream images make farmer disappear
More and more I have the idea that it is no longer about facts, but about a dream, without realizing that food is not a luxury, but a necessity. Who can tell me how this group of people should be approached to convince them of the facts. It seems that there is no journalist, politician, nature organization and environmental organization in the Netherlands to start the discussion, to hear our story. And our story is full of facts and truths.

Their dream images make the farmers disappear, completely lock up the houses and road construction. Likewise, the industry can no longer expand. After all, please note that, according to the law, it is only allowed to expand again when the nitrogen emissions in the nature reserves are below the critical deposition values (KDW). The Netherlands will therefore be permanently locked until the KDW has been achieved. Irresponsible! Knowing that in 25% of the areas the KDW is unfeasible anyway, according to the Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency. Even when there are no farmers left in the Netherlands.

You are absolutely right...but hardly anyone cares anymore. The last to know what's going on are killed. Think of it as a hard reset of the countryside, it will be completely different and even if you lose everything, the decision has already been made.

nice piece Jaap, but unfortunately this story does not reach the people who have to read it. is it worth crowdfunding to place it as sponsored content in a newspaper?

Well written. As already noted: THIS MUST BE VERY LARGE (PAGE) IN ALL MAGAZINES. These are the facts.

Let them come over here! Because what's the point of farming in such a country... completely fed up with all the bullshit about the sectors. Not to mention revenue prices and costs, deeply sad.

nicely summarized! top! but how do we get through this? I'm afraid there is no going back especially when you see that the left wing legal system largely thinks the same!!

Well written.
What kind of world do we live in? Does everyone believe that the plants grow faster from the air of a stable? What a mind, that's so few extra cell divisions, you can't see that.

It's easy to forget that the excess of nitrogen and low groundwater levels contribute to the disappearance of many plant and animal species, and that all that plowing for maize and lowering the groundwater city promotes greenhouse gas emissions. If all dairy farmers stopped plowing grassland for maize or flowers, the business may be closed. Then the pig and chicken farmers can no longer dispose of their manure so easily (unless they set up an alternative accounting again), and the people around might get clean lungs again. Less livestock, just like fewer flies, is really inevitable in our overcrowded country.

Roel, I would sit in the Randstad near Schiphol. You will definitely get clean lungs!!

Exterminating those rotten farmers and getting food from abroad is so good for our world and the environment. Fortunately, they know better than anyone how to do things in the countryside in the Randstad, more houses and roads, etc. That's just greening....
