Which is better for the environment: cows or plants? According to the media and left-wing politics, these are the plants. But is this so?
The nitrogen crisis is partly attributed to our livestock. I have tried several times to explain that this is not the case at all. After all, the nitrogen that is released is natural nitrogen. The nitrogen from our natural cycle: the cow expels it, it enters the air, the air drops it on the ground, the plant absorbs it and is then eaten by the cow again. A completely closed system.
But what goes wrong? When we want to make the plants grow faster, we add fertilizers to the plant. These fertilizers are made by the fertilizer industry and are therefore added to the natural cycle. This causes pollution.
Feeding all people on Earth
If we are able to grow the plants well without fertilizers, then agriculture cannot pollute at all. Only then the yield will be too low to feed all the people on earth. Now the Dutch livestock farmer has to transport part of his manure to our arable farmers.
If we had more cows, we would have had more fertilizer for our plants and farmers would have had to buy less fertilizer from industry. This had been a major environmental benefit. The livestock therefore causes a lower environmental impact instead of a higher one, as politicians and the media would have us believe.
Missing link in cycle
Remember, this is our fault. Humans are the missing link in our cycle. We consume carefree, without returning our minerals to the farmer. And then on top of that, they also blame the farmers for having to replenish the minerals that we consumers lose with fertilizer.
Politics The Hague is full of circular agriculture. Let's take care of our own cycle first. Let The Hague do something about that. No, it's much easier to blame the farmer because you can get his hands on his land cheaply. And then pollute even more.
Brainwashed About Agriculture
How misinformed and constantly we are by the media, nature authorities and politics. Brainwashed that our agriculture is polluting. Even in primary school textbooks, it is written that our livestock farming is bad for the environment. How shortsighted and unwise are the people who write this. If I had been a farmer, I would have sued the authors of these textbooks on false charges. Agriculture is the only profession that we humans need for our daily food.
During the nitrogen consultations with the government, a critical farmers' organization has now resigned. I do understand this. One of their points was clarification of the random addition of nitrogen-sensitive nature by a few officials, together with nature organizations. Our Minister of Agriculture has no explanation for this and continues to circle around it. She blames the provinces and they in turn say: we don't know anything either.
No one takes responsibility
No one takes responsibility for it unfounded extra extras of all kinds of nitrogen-sensitive nature. A very bizarre situation, but it is clear to me that the entire nitrogen dossier is now an unbelievable story. It only came about because various nature organizations have recorded all kinds of nature that they see as nitrogen-sensitive nature on a map. And a few officials subsequently designated this as nitrogen-sensitive nature without any consultation.
Sometimes it even concerns areas of only 13 square meters. So be careful, they will soon add to your garden and then the entire area will be locked. You can no longer sell your garden, because the garden is no longer worth anything, only offer it to the government at a much lower value. This is now also happening with our farmers.
