For more than a year now, the euro has been slowly weakening against the US dollar. Parity, i.e. the euro is equal to the dollar, is coming into view, but first another barrier has to be broken in the currency market. That tells Joost Derks, head of desk Netherlands at iBanFirst, in the first podcast Currency. Derks discusses developments in the financial markets with presenter Eric de Lijster.
But not for a moment to think about the person Joost Derks himself, his predilection for currencies and the fact why the currency trade still doesn't get boring after more than 25 years. He also reveals the reason that iBanFirst has its Dutch office in Rotterdam and not in the alleged financial heart of the Netherlands, Amsterdam. The pivotal role of interest rates, controlling inflation, the policies of the central banks ECB and Fed, the exchange rate of the euro/dollar and that of the British pound, it all comes across in this podcast.
In the Valuta podcast, Eric de Lijster meets with a currency expert on a monthly basis Joost Derks developments in the currency markets. This is alternately published on the channels Boerenbusiness. Nl en Foodbusiness.nl† Joost Derks also writes a weekly column, which is published every Thursday Boerenbusiness and Food business is published.
