Last week a number of participants of the Boerenbusiness Roughage tour the lawns mowed and ensiled or put in the bale. This week they are mainly working on fertilizing these plots.
The participant from Doetinchem mowed on Monday last week and was busy fertilizing his plots yesterday and today. He has spread 75 kilograms of CAN per hectare with the fertilizer spreader and he applies about 25 cubic meters of slurry per hectare. A quarter of this slurry consists of water, which it obtains from its own source. The manure has been diluted to allow it to work well, and to make the manure work even better, he has already started irrigating his lawns.

Fertilizer, no slurry
The participant from Beerzeveld mowed his lawns last week and fertilized them with 250 kilograms of CAN per hectare, he deliberately chose not to spread slurry because he would then spread too much manure. After the third cut, he will again apply slurry and omit the fertilizer because he will then be at his nitrogen ceiling.
Fertilizing for the fourth cut
The participants from Nieuwerkerk an Zuidbroek were the first to mow the third cut of grass, this week they have been busy spreading the manure. In Zuidbroek, 150 kilograms of CAN per hectare were spread and 15 cubic meters of slurry per hectare was spread over the plots. In Nieuwerkerk, 20 cubic meters per hectare of slurry was applied with the drag hose, half of this slurry consists of water. These plots are also still fertilized with 180 kilograms of CAN sulfur per hectare.
